We have some of our dogs in guardian families. We feel our dogs deserve the love and attention only a family can give them. We can’t have all of our breeding dogs in our house, so the next best thing is to let other people raise them and love them, then bring them to us for breeding and whelping when the time is right. When the dog has completed her breeding career, she remains with the guardian family for the rest of her life. We will provide for all breeding related expenses and the guardian family takes care of all other routine healthcare.
If you are interested, there are several requirements of the breeder and the guardian home. The guardian must reside within an hour of the Folsom. Guardians pay nothing for each dog, although they remain under our ownership till they have had a maximum of 6 litters. All costs associated with breeding and testing the dogs is covered by the breeder and guardians are compensated for each litter their dog produces. When the dog retires, she is spayed at the breeder’s expense and ownership is transferred to the guardian.
Porsche
We are looking for a guardian home for Porsche. She is a 22 lb 4 year old AKC poodle who loves the people she knows and trusts. She loves cuddling, taking walks and just being near her people. She is very curious about cats, but I don’t know that I’d recommend a home with a cat. She gets along well with our Bernese Mountain dogs and our boys, but many of our other girls seem to be ganging up on her and I feel sad for her. Porsche will only be having 2 more litters and then we will spay her and her ownership will transfer to the guardian.
Sophie
Sophie was born here on November 29, 2025 and was placed in a guardian home at 8 weeks of age. Due to family medical emergencies, she was brought back to us. She LOVES being in a home with other dogs and loving people. She is a small Cavalier King Charles Spaniel but loves all treats like cheese, bread, sweet potato fries and even apple pieces, so I think she will fatten up after she is 2 years old like her mother did. She is the consumate lap dog and even enjoys car rides. I am not going to say that she is 100% potty trained, and she is catching on to our family routines after being here only one week.
BB, on the right, is our first guardian pup. She is retired and lives with Frankie in Placerville.
